Last night as my daughter and I had our usual weekly dinners, I noticed that she was spending a long time looking in the mirror...so I asked if anything was wrong.

You see, my daughter, Bar, takes great care of her hair… but she feels like her hair has gotten thinner hair in the last few months, no matter what she does.

Of course, I asked her what she’s done differently, and to my surprise, she said her routine stayed the same.

I was shocked.

The truth is, with the cold season ahead of us, you need to change your daily routine! Not only to protect and nourish your locks but to also protect them against weather changes.

The cold air can quickly dehydrate your scalp, damage your locks, and when you team that with wearing hats that can cause stress and friction, and you could be pulling out clumps of your hair without even realizing it.

You probably already know that having a head full of gorgeous, healthy hair isn’t always born from a bottle.

A lot of things that can change your strands, such as:

  • Genetics
  • Lifestyle
  • Diet
  • Age
  • Hormones
  • Nutrient deficiencies
  • …and so much more!

But the one thing that most people tend to neglect? Seasonal weather changes.

Now, if you were born with beautiful, thick, hair that has strength, shine, and fast growth, wouldn’t you want to keep it that way as long as possible?

Luckily, a few small tweaks to your daily routine can help keep your hair looking shiny, feeling soft, and full of life and volume.

I call it “Winter-Proofing.” It’s easy! Just try these 4 cool and easy hair tips that I recommend to my family…

  1. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize
  • Now, if you start noticing that your hair looks dryer in the winter months — you’re right! During the winter months, the moisture in the air is very low which will leave your locks feeling dry. To combat the weather changes, just switch to a shampoo and conditioner especially made for dry hair. This will replenish and maintain the moisture level in your hair.

  1. Stay Dry
  • Do you remember when your mom would say, “Don’t leave the house with wet hair?” There’s a reason why. Leaving the house with wet hair isn’t just bad for your health, but it’s also bad for your hair! If your hair is holding extra water and the temperature is below freezing, your hair can crystallize and become prone to breakage. So, take a few extra minutes to soak up the excess water with a towel or use your blow dryer on low heat.

  1. Start at the Root
  • A dry, flaky, and itchy scalp is a concern for all of us, but did you know it gets worse in the colder months? If you are suffering from these pesky scalp problems, then the only solution is to nourish and the hydrate the foundation of your hair.

  1. Cover Up!
  • Between the cold, wind, and snow, the winter elements are not your friend, so you need to protect and shield your locks from the damaging weather. Whether it’s a scarf, a hat, or a hood, try to cover your hair to prevent breakage. Avoid tying your hair in a bun because the tight binding can cause additional breakage.

With the colder months coming up, this is a tough time for your hair…but if you add these daily routine essentials, you can feel confident about your hair all year long.

So, there you go! Make your luxurious mane look like you were born with it.
