How To Pack Your Hair Care Products Like A Pro
From a weekend getaway to two weeks abroad, keep your hair looking gorgeous ever time you leave town! Here are some of the best packing tips to keep your suitcase light and your hair on point.
Looking forward to traveling in the upcoming months?
While the prospect of visiting a new destination is one of the most exciting feelings there is, the thought of having to pack for it can be extremely stressful.
So many factors come into play when deciding what to take with you and what to leave behind.
Clothing is an absolute necessity and will take up significant space in your suitcase, but what about your makeup and your hair care? You still want to retain some of the luxuries of home while you’re away…
And you also shouldn’t gamble on the fact that the place you are staying will provide hair care products, or that they will even work with your hair!
It’s all about being strategic when packing and deciding what products will be the most useful to you while on vacation.
Ahead, we’re going to give you some tips and tricks for getting organized and make sure you pack the essentials for your next trip!
Consider this your good hair vacation checklist.
1. Choose The Right Travel Bag
It’s important to select a bag that will hold your necessities, but isn’t so large that you will want to overstuff it.
The L’ange Clear Travel Bag is perfectly sized for holding your hair care necessities. It’s made of a durable plastic material and features a flat bottom for keeping your bottles upright.
Because it’s see-through, it makes going through TSA checkpoints a breeze. Stash all of your travel-sized necessities inside and pop right through the screening line.
2. Organize Your Suitcase
To make sure you have ample room for all of your beauty must-haves, invest in packing cubes for your clothing.
They’ll not only help you keep your suitcase organized by like items, but they’ll also make it easier to see what you’ve already packed. You’ll be less likely to overpack!
3. Aim For Travel-Sized Bottles
If you do not want to check a bag, pay close attention to TSA’s 3-1-1 liquids rule.
You may bring in your carry on bag:
- Liquid containers of 3.4 ounces or less per item
- 1 clear, quart-sized zip bag
- 1 bag per passenger
L’ange Travel Hair Care products are 2 ounces or less, so you can mix and match your favorites to help keep your suitcase light or pass through TSA inspection in a breeze!
4. Shampoo and Conditioner
Choose a shampoo and conditioner duo that will help minimize the need to wash frequently while you are away. Try our gentle blowout line in travel size to keep your hair clean and voluminous.
Cascade Blowout Shampoo - Our grapefruit-scented, daily volumizing shampoo is great for travel. It gently cleanses hair, leaving it soft, shiny, and full of body.
Slické Blowout Conditioner - This lightweight conditioner hydrates your hair without weighing it down, saving you the trouble of frequently washing your hair. It also has a yummy citrus scent!
5. Pack Multipurpose Styling Products
It’s a good idea to bring products that can be used in different ways to combat a multitude of hair concerns depending on where you are traveling to. You never know when you’ll need a little extra protection against frizz!
Satin Néctar Nourishing Gloss - Packed with vitamins and antioxidants, this shine serum can be used before or after styling. It leaves strands soft, frizz-free, and incredibly shiny.
Sorbet Botanical Smoothing Balm - Packed with biotin and coconut oil to soften and fortify strands. Great for detangling, it increases manageability, reduces frizz, and adds an extra layer of UV protection.
Try them separately OR cocktail them together for extremely soft and shiny hair. Both products are UV-protectant, which is great when you’re headed to a sunny destination!
6. Heat Protectant Is Always A Must
If you bring styling tools with you, this is one product you’ll want to travel with! Not only does it protect against the heat of your tools, it also protects your hair and hair color against the sun’s damaging rays.
Rival Heat Shield - Your hair always needs protection! This must-have heat and UV protectant spray packs a double punch defending strands and setting your style with a light hold and shiny finish.
7. Bring On The Volume
Travel has a tendency to make our hair fall flat. Whether it’s the change in water, climate or our general styling routine, keep this secret weapon in your arsenal to ensure your hair does not deflate.
Whip Volumizing Mousse - This vitamin- and botanical-infused mousse gives you maximum volume, while nourishing your hair. All the body you crave, with a soft, non-sticky finish.
8. Trustworthy Texture Spray
Sometimes when you’re away, it’s nice to ditch the dryer all together and embrace your natural texture. Try a hydrating and shine-enhancing texturizer for some lovely, air-dried locks.
Salt + Séa Texturizing Spray - The ultimate hair texturizer for giving you tousled, beachy waves with a shiny, soft hold and no crunchy feel.
9. Don’t Forget Dry Shampoo!
Though not technically part of the Travel Bundle, Déjà Vu Dry Shampoo makes an excellent addition to your travel hair repertoire.
At 3 ounces, it’s under the TSA liquids requirement, which means you can bring it along!
When you want to extend your ‘do another day or two, reach for this instant hair refresh. The clear formula works to soak up oil, dirt and odor, leaving you with fresh, clean, voluminous hair.
10. Pack Double Duty Hair Tools
First and foremost, if you are traveling overseas, make sure to bring a converter specific to the country you are headed to. This will ensure you can use your styling tools without any problems.
Instead of taking multiple styling tools, try an iron that allows you to both straighten and curl your hair.
Aplatir is an excellent no-frills choice with its rounded ceramic plates that rapidly heat up to 450°F and can be used to create a multitude of styles.
If you’re looking for one with a little more bells and whistles, try Le Rêve. With rounded titanium plates, this iron features a digital display, auto shut-off and an embedded infrared light strip that emits deeply penetrating, gentle heat and smooths even the hardest-to-tame hair.
11. Add Some Accessories
Don’t forget the hair accessories when you pack for a trip. Make sure to have lots of bobby pins and clips to tackle frizz and flyaways.
Some cute, colorful elastics will help you to tie up your hair in a snap (especially if you want to keep it out of the water).
Make sure to bring statement accessories like a hat and a lightweight scarf to help shield your hair from the sun and look cute at the same time!
12. Learn A Go-To Hairstyle (Or A Few)!
If you’re not too keen on heat-styling while on vacation, why not brush up on your braiding or bun techniques?
A sleek, low or messy high bun makes for a classic, low maintenance hairstyle that is practically weatherproof.
Braids are also a great option because there are so many variations (think: Dutch, French, fishtail, double, etc.) They can give you two days worth of hairstyles because when you take the braids out on the second day, you are left with some gorgeous waves.
13. Time To Use Up Those Samples
You know all the tiny makeup and skincare freebies you often get as free gifts with purchase? These pack up super compact and leave more room in your suitcase for other things.
Traveling is a fun time to try new products and experiment with your look. The best part is, at the end of the trip, you can toss the leftovers to free up space.
14. The L’ange Travel Bundle
Take the guesswork out of packing your hair care. The L’ange Travel Bundle contains all of L’ange’s bestselling travel-sized products to ensure your hair continues to look its best while you’re away from home.
Make sure to pick up a L’ange Clear Travel Bag as well, which is the perfect size for holding the entire collection (and then some).
